Academy Uniform Change
Review of The Thetford Academy School Uniform – December 2011
Following an evaluation and feedback from parents, carers and students regarding the Academy school uniform, it has been decided to phase out the grey jumpers and introduce in its place a plain black V-neck jumper or V-neck cardigan.
All new intake from September 2012 will be required to wear black jumpers or cardigans and these can either be purchased locally or from the Academy’s uniform supplier. To assist with this transition, current students will be able to change to the black version when a replacement is necessary.
We do, however have surplus stocks of the current grey jumpers at a very discounted price of £7.50 each. Unfortunately, we have no stock of size 36. There is, therefore, the option for current students to purchase and benefit from this offer during the forthcoming winter months, subject to availability.
I trust this information is a satisfactory outcome to those of you who have been dissatisfied with the grey jumpers. The aim of The Academy is to ensure the uniform is consistently priced and affordable to all.
I would also like to remind parents that if you receive any of the following benefits your child is entitled to free school meals. Application forms can be collected from the office. Benefits are:
- Income Support
- Employment Support Allowance (Income Related)
- Income Based JSA
- Guaranteed Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit and your income (as calculated by the Inland Revenue) is less than £16,190
Yours sincerely
Mrs C. Spillane
